About 11 passengers are feared dead after a cargo truck pounded into two buses at Kyekyewere on the Accra-Kumasi highway in the Eastern Region. The unfortunate accident happened around 5:20 am on Tuesday, September 15, 2020.
Although no formal communique has been released, it is known that over 50 other has sustained injuries. The injuries range from minor injuries to very serious and critical ones which need immediate care and attention.
According to an eyewitnesses, the tyre of a DAF Cargo Truck which was on his way to Burkina Faso deflated causing the driver to lose control of the steering wheel.
The cargo truck veered off its lane and crashed two buses fully loaded with passengers moving from Kumasi to Accra.
The passenger vehicles had registration number GE 8131-16 and GT 4997-20. In the attempt of the passenger vehicles to escape the cargo truck, they crashed. The Ghana Police Service was informed and they came to the scene with the Natural Disaster Management Organisation.
It is known that the injured victims have been conveyed to the Nsawam Government Hospital and the Suhum Government Hospital.
The dead bodies have also been conveyed to the morgue of the hospitals mentioned.
