2 students in their final year have been reported dead in Anlo Senior High School in the Anlo District of the Volta Region. The two students are male and female respectively.
The claims made by the majority of people were that the two students died out of COVID 19. This is not the actual case but the contrary. Families of the deceased have made it known that the students died away from school after they obtained certified exeat.
Sources of the information claim that the male student was first to kick the bucket. This happened after the young boy signed an exeat to seek medical attention from a nearby hospital on July 19, 2020. It is known that his mother made him stay with his aunt who was in the same community as the school. The situation grew worse and when he was rushed to the hospital, he was declared dead on arrival.
In the case of the girl, she fell sick on July 20, 2020, and was admitted to the Anloga Clinic. After some checks and tests, she tested positive for malaria and she was treated and discharged. As she was discharged, her parents came for her from the hospital and sent her to the house. After a few hours in the night, her condition worsened and she was immediately rushed to Aflao Municipal Hospital. She was diagnosed with a high sugar level but unfortunately, she lost her life at the midnight of July 21, 2020, as she was being transferred to the Regional Hospital.
There are about 34000 final year students sitting for the West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in the Volta and Oti Regions.
