Alleged leaked audiotape of NDC National Chairman sent to Israel for forensic examination


An alleged leak audiotape of the Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Ofosu Ampofo, has been sent for forensic examination.

The audiotape has been sent to Israel as the High Court seeks to get to the bottom of the case. Elder Ofosu Ampofo is standing trial at the Ghana High Court on charges of conspiracy and assault on public officers.

During cross-examination on Friday, October 16, 2020, the court was briefed by one investigator of the Criminal Investigative Department on the issue. Bernard Berko stated that the audiotape has been transferred to Israeli Forensic Science Institute for a forensic examination.

The intention of this is to determine whether the voice in the audiotape is actually that of Samuel Ofosu Ampofo.

“I made a copy of this and I also made a copy of the one I had earlier received from Adom FM and renamed it as Elder Ofosu Ampofo. My Lord, I forwarded both recordings to the Israel Forensic Science Institute for examination,” the CID investigator told the court.

Two NDC members, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and one communication member, Kwaku Boahen, are standing trial at the High Court. They are standing trials on the charges of allegedly plotting bad about some people. Additionally, these people who were being plotted against in the video was the Electoral Commission Chairperson and other people. Also, the lawyers of the Chairman have argued that the audio is doctored and thus cannot be used as evidence in the court.

The Institute of Forensic Science in Israel will soon verify the audiotape through the examinations. It was established in 2007 and has since been a great institute for forensic science issues.
