Amazing Sierra Leone comes back from 4-0 down to pull draw against Nigeria


A massive drama was observed in an AFCON 2022 qualifying game which featured Nigeria and Sierra Leone. The game saw a massive slip by Nigeria from a 4-0 lead to a 4-4 draw to Sierra Leone.

The Super Eagles were cruising towards a 9 out of 9 points in Group L when Sierra Leone pulled up a surprise. Before the 30th minte mark, the Super Eagles were in a 4-0 lead inside.

Everton forward Alex Iwobi bagged a brace as he opened the scoresheet in the fourth minute. Also, Napoli’s promising striker, Victor Osimhen, doubled the lead for Nigeria in the 21st minute. Victor Osimhen provided an assist for Iwobi who tripled the lead for Nigeria on the 26th minute and Chukwueze added the fourth.

During this stage of the game, the game was touted to have ended for the Sierra Leoneans. Sierra Leone began their stunning comeback just before half-time when Kwame Quee grabbed their first equalizer.

Alhaji Kamara of Sierra Leone scored the second consolation goal on the 72nd minute, making it 4-2. Mustapha Bundu then added a third for Sierra Leone to make it 4-3 on the 80th-minute mark.

Alhaji Kamara broke the hearts of Nigerians as he completed the comeback for Sierra Leone with four minutes to the end of the game. The game ended 4-4 as both sides gained a point each.

Nigeria remain top of Group L with 7 points and Sierra Leone are third with 2 points. Second-place side Benin wi;; face Lesotho on Saturday to eb=nd the thr round of games for their group.
