A mobile money vendor has been attacked by two armed robbers at Yendi in the Northern Region. It is reported that the armed robbers took away an amount of GHC5,300.00 from the vendor.

However, this incident has happened in various parts of the country and is the new venture of armed robbers. The unfortunate incident happened on August 31, 2020, at about 6:30 pm.

The mobile money vendor is a 30-year-old man by name Baba Sulemana. According to him, one armed robber who put on a face mask entered his mobile money shop with a shocker and knife and ordered him to kneel. In addition, the armed robber asked him to show where the monies have been kept.

Baba Sulemana said he showed him a drawer which contained GHC 1,000.00. After the armed robber opened the drawer and took the money, he asked him to show him where the rest of the money was. Baba Sulemana showed him a bag containing GHC 4,000.00 and another containing GHC 300.00. The total amount which was robbed by the robbers was about GHC 5,300.00.

The mobile money vendor said immediately the face-masked armed robber put the monies in a bg, he was joined by his other colleague robber. The other colleague possessed AK 47 rifle and started firing as they sat on their motorbike.

Baba Sulemana also made it known that the firing bullet hit a 51-year-old man. He was identified as Mr. Awolu Zakaria, who is responding to treatment at the Yendi Municipal Hospital.
