The UEFA Champions League after five months of its absence, has resumed with its exceptional characteristics. The first day of the resumption has seen 13 times champions, Real Madrid, and Italian champions, Juventus, being sent packing as Manchester City and Olympique Lyonnais progress through the next stage of the competition.
Day 2 of the Champions League resumption will feature games with Chelsea travelling to face Bayern Munich at Allianz Arena. Barcelona will also host Napoli in the second encounter after their 1:1 draw in Naples last March. All of the games are exciting fixtures which will bring the Champions League back to memory.
With the game between Barcelona and Napoli, Quique Setien will need a win from his boys in order to progress to the quarter-final stage of the competition in order to avoid a trophy less season.
The match of great concern is the game which features Bayern Munich and Chelsea. Although Bayern Munich have a 3:0 aggregate lead, they are not fully guaranteed a spot in the quarter-final stage. With regards to the previous Champions League games, Liverpool won the Premier League and have been eliminated. Juventus and Real Madrid won their individual leagues but they have been eliminated from the UEFA Champions League.
In the Bayern Munich setup, Coach Hansi Flick has lost Kingsley Coman and Benjamin Pavard for the game. On the other hand, Chelsea will lose the service of several players which includes: Marcos Alonso, Billy Gilmour, Cesar Azpilicueta, Jorginho Luiz, Pedro Rodriguez and Christian Pulisic.
Consequently, the absence of such players will cause Chelsea a great downfall and has given Bayern Munich a great advantage over the Blues.
Bayern Munich potential starting lineup:
Neuer, Kimmich, Boateng, Alaba, Davies; Goretzka, Thiago; Gnabry, Muller, Perisic; Lewandowski
Chelsea potential starting lineup:
Caballero, Zouma, Christensen, Rudiger; James, Barkley, Kovacic, Emerson; Mount, Giroud, Hudson-Odoi
