Couple in Police grips for allegedly scalding hands of 11-year-old girl

A couple is in the custody of the police for allegedly scalding the hands of their 11-year old daughter. They have been charged for dipping the hands of their daughter in hot water. Also, charges have been made against them for not seeking medical attention for the victim.

The victim has been subjected to hand scalding and treatments and she is currently receiving medical treatment at the Ho Government Hospital. Consequently, both of her hands have been severely burnt from the actions of her foster parents. The police Service held the couple accountable for not treating the burnt hands of their daughter.

The Akuse Police Commander confirmed the arrest of a 34-year-old uncle to the victim, Austin Adokpa Gameli, and his wife, Vera Koranteng. They have been charged for causing harm and helping in investigations with the police.


The Police were notified about the unfortunate incident on the 23rd of September, this year. Moreover, the Commander communicated that two complainants brought the victim to the police station and reported the case. They lodge a complaint concerning causing of harm and the health disregard of the injured victim by her foster parents.

He said that the police immediately issued medical form and the victim was sent to the hospital for treatment.

He concluded the case is still is under investigation and the suspects will soon be processed for court. The Police Commander revealed that the police are yet to receive a medical report on the victim from the admitted hospital.
