General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party, John Boadu, has revealed that the Electoral Commission deserves commendations. He made it known that despite the challenges they are facing, they have been very instrumental.
John Boadu, who has held several positions in the NPP made these statements during his tour to the Volta Region. He was checking on the Electoral Commission activities in the Hohoe Municipal. Mr. Boadu revealed that genuinely, there are some Ghanaians who have not registered for the voters identification card. He stated that some people has diverse challenges and busy times during the national registration.
“We Ghanaians need to commend the Electoral Commission for their good works prior to the elections. Also, Ghanaians who believe that election should be partaken by all voters must be commended. A person who is qualified to partake in the 2020 general election must be given the chance to have their names in the list”.
John Boadu stated that if the Electoral Commission did not give an extension time for people who were not able to register, they would have been disenfranchised.
The General Secretary stated that there are some minor challenges faced by the Electoral Commission. Moreover, he mentioned misplacement of names, mismatch and spelling errors as some challenges.
John Boadu communicated that the whole process has been peaceful and that is very good for Ghanaians. In conclusion, the General Secretary stress on the need for the Electoral Commission to compile the accurate data in due time.
