A fire outbreak erupted at the office of the Electoral Commission in Accra on Friday, August 14, 2020. The fire has destroyed several properties in the process.

The fire outbreak began in the early minutes of 2 am, destroying several properties in the building. The location of the Electoral Commission office in Accra is at Sapeiman in the Ga West Municipality. Also, the building serves as the Regional Office of the election coordination organization.

The cause of the outbreak is not known pending investigation by the Fire Service and Ghana Police Service. It has been notified that the building which caught the fire serves as a storage of old items of the Electoral Commission.

Fortunately the fire did not affect the main administration block as the fire service were notified early by the security personnel on duty.

In conclusion, this election year has seen many ups and downs.
