The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association has expressed their support to the Offinso accident victims. The Council members have decided to donate their September monthly allowance for the support of the Offinso accident victims.
The bold decision was taken by all the members of the Executive Council during a meeting on Monday, September 21, 2020 to support the victims.
This follows an unfortunate accident that occured to the team of 34 players of Africa Vision Soccer Academy in the Ashanti Region. The incident happened on Saturday, September 19, 2020, after the team were returning from their registration.
The minibus they were travelling on plunged into the Offinso river leading to the death of seven footballers. Others have also sustained various injuries which are been taken care of by the team staff.
Moreover, some ten team member that sustained minor injuries have been treated and discharged by the St. Patrick’s Hospital at Offinso.
The Ghana Football Association on Sunday, September 20, 2020, sent a team to the families of the victimized footballers. The team sent out by the GFA was led by Executive Council member Frederick Acheampong and Ashanti Regional Football Association Chairman, Osei Tutu Agyemang.
In conclusion, the GFA has found it at heart to support the football academy in their instances.
