A 45-year-old man has committed suicide after allegedly killing her girlfriend in Cape Coast. He hanged himself on a tree in a basic school.

The deceased man, Emmanuel Kwakye, is suspected by the Elmina Police to have committed the suicide on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at the Bronyibima M.A Basic School.

It is communicated that on Monday September 21, a friend to the deceased issued a report to the UCC Police Station. He report that his friend was missing and after calling several times, no response was heard.

The friend of the deceased who complained to the UCC Police Station visited the residence of his friend Emmanuel Kwakye. As he entered his house in Kakumdo, he saw a lady lying dead in the unlocked room of the deceased.

The Police then proceeded to the scene and found the body of the lady lifelessly lying on the floor. It has been found out that the lady’s name is Georgina Sayel. Moreover, it is suspected that the lady was the girlfriend of Emmanuel Kwakye.

The Police after examining the body of the lady, it was found out that she was stabbed on her left rib. Also, a blood-stained kitchen knife was also found in the room of Emmanuel Kwakye.

It has been revealed by some residents that the 45-year-old deceased was a teacher and owned two taxis. The residents further revealed that Georgina Sayel has been in a relationship with Emmanuel Kwakye. Moreover, the residents made it known that Georgina recently graduated from College of Education in Cape Coast.

Police Investigation

Immediate investigations by the police revealed that the deceased man is suspected to have killed his girlfriend before committing suicide.

The body of Georgina has been sent to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital mortuary for autopsy reports. The police are still investigating the case.
