Police arrest 22-year-old notorious robber over murder of Momo vendor


The Kumasi Police have apprehended one more person in relation to the murder of a mobile money vendor at Ejisu.

The Police upon receiving a hint about the hideout of the suspects, rushed to arrest him on September 2, 2020. The 22-year-old notorious armed robber was identified as Umaru Sanda. Also, it was also revealed that he is a Fulani herdsman.

Earlier before the arrest of Umaru Sanda, his fellow armed robber was arrested in line with the murder of a mobile money vendor. According to the sources, the 28-year-old Sampson Owusu Adjei was murdered by the suspects on the eve of August 27, 2020.

On Tuesday, September 22, a Kumasi District Court presided over by Her Worship Aliata Saeed sat on the case. The court charges the suspected armed robbers with 4 charges. They include conspiracy to committing robbery, robbery, murder, possession of firearms and ammunition without authority.

In the court hearing, the prosecutor seeked for the court to remand the two armed robbers as police continue their investigations. This has led the court to adjourn the case to Monday, October 12, 2020 .

The Ejisu community came to a standstill after the unfortunate incident that happened last month. The family and loved ones of the murdered vendor are pleading for the law to deal with the perpetrators.

The deceased, Sampson Owusu Adjei left behind a wife and two children.

In conclusion, the rate at which armed robbers are killing mobile money vendors in the country is becoming common. Hence, the Security Agencies must up their game to ensure that unfortunate incidents like this will reduce to the minimum.
