Former Black Stars player, Rev Osei Kofi, has advised Asamoah Gyan to honorably quit Black Stars to save his name. The Ghana legend believes that Gyan’s football career is gradually coming to a successful end.

Asamoah Gyan, alias Baby Jet, earned his debut call-up in 2013 and has since been integral for the Black Stars. The 35-year-old striker holds the record of the most international goals for the Black Stars with 51 goals.

Asamoah Gyan’s national team games have been limited due to his current performance the Osei Kofi thinks he should resign. Gyan’s last game was in the 2019 African Cup of Nations, in which his playing time was limited.

Last weekend, Black Stars coach Charles Kwabla Akonnor revealed his captain list for the Black Stars. These changes eliminated the general captainship from Asamoah Gyan and Andre Ayew as confirmed as captain. Thomas Teye Partey and Richard Ofori were the two deputy captains and the new leadership of the team.

The decision by C.K Akonnor means Gyan’s interest in the Black Stars is gradually coming to an end as he is not in the plans of the coach.

According to Rev. Osei Kofi, Asamoah Gyan should quit and announce his retirement from the team.

“Good name is better than riches and if Asamoah Gyan will listen to me, he should quit the Black Stars because he is not the Gyan we use to know. I think he should honorably resign from the Black Stars team to save his name,” said Rev. Osei Kofi.
