WHAT ARE THE USES OF WATER?

Too few people know the uses and value of water and the health benefits of drinking water. Pure water from streams is a blessing from God. Many know the external use of water for bathing the body, but only a few know the importance of internal cleansing of the body. It is rather sad that many people do not know the best type of water to use when to take it, and how to drink it into the system.

Some people take very cold ice chilled water others drink warm or water. When we drink too much cold water, we cause problems to lively organs like adrenal glands, lungs and the heart. Frequent use of cold water may give warning signals like coughs and if persisted will cause much havoc and the end is disease and unhappiness.

THE VALUE OF WATER

The value of water is a very broad topic and beyond the scope of this article. Significantly, water is considered as the ‘cleansing agent’ not only to non-living elements on earth but it cleanses human organs. As we use water externally, the same way we must drink it to cleanse and “squeeze” the liver, the brain, the lungs, the digestive tract, and every fiber and cell of our being. Water is a universal solvent. Two-thirds of the earth is covered with water and ¾ (75%) of the body is water.

Springwater from the rock flowing along the valley in a hygienic environment is cool and soothing, life and blessing. Drinking water from the well is also good if the well is dug in a clean environment. ‘Rainwater’ boiled and filtered and kept for use is also good

BEST WAYS OF DRINKING WATER

  • You can drink as many as 6 to 8 cups of water a day depending on your body weight. Over drinking water too can weaken the kidneys. (common sense always advice on too much of doing things). Your weight and type of food may tell the amount of water to drink. Fruitarians require less drinking of water as fruits and fresh vegetables already contain lots of water.
  • The time to drink water is very important. Take no food into an empty stomach in the morning. Lubricate the stomach with water, drinking it slowly before eating. Heavy foods ingested into an empty, fasted stomach result in stomach ulcers and gastritis.
  • Drinking water and herbal teas slowly allow the liquid to enter well into the body cells and prevents stomach cramps after drinking when the stomach is empty.

  • Water should be ‘cool’ but not ‘cold’. Know the difference between ‘cold water’ and ‘cool water’. Springwater in the forest area is often cool. Too cold (ice water) is bad and detrimental to health. Occasionally, one can even warm water before drinking for special cleansing purposes. I often squeeze half lemon juice into a glass of warm water and drink as hot as possible, early in the morning. This prevents constipation and it is just like bathing externally in the morning with water and soap. (That is internal bathing: Lemon acts as soap)
  • Cold baths in the morning and evening after exercise are toning and refreshing.
  • Do not drink water with meals. Many people do this and the result is gas, constipation, oedema, overweight, protruding tummy, gastritis, and poor digestion. Make sure you are not thirsty before going to the table. Drink warm water about 20-30 minutes before eating (just a little small cup). Chew food very well for proper mixing of saliva (The only liquid food requires in the mouth). After eating allow 1-3 hours before drinking.

                  Note: We drink water to wash the body but not to wash, dilute, and reduce the potency of food. If your food is so spicy and hot that may call for more drinking, reduce or remove hot pepper from diet and use more onions and garlic.

  • Do not allow nature to call for water before you drink. When you allow the throat to become dry and you feel thirsty before drinking, you have first of all worn out the organs and have caused problems. Train the body to drink water at regular times, especially between meals but not with meals.
