One of the suspect murderer of the University of Ghana professor, Professor Emmanuel Benneh, has revealed to the police that their intention was to rob him. James Womba, who is the suspect, was a cleaner to the late professor.
The suspect confirmed himself and his accomplice as the persons who killed Prof. Benneh although that was not their intention.
The Director General of the CID department of the Ghana Police Service released a communique that the suspect confessed that they demanded something from the professor. He stated that when their demands were not met by the late victim, they were compelled to knock him, killing him in the process.
Moreover, he stated that as Mr. Benned tried to raise an alarm, they struck him with an iron rod and he died in the process. Also, the Director General revealed that the suspect and his accomplice took away the phone and GH ¢450 from the wallet of the late professor.
According to the police, the computer of the late professor was dumped into a septic tank as the suspects feared they could be recorded. James Womba also confirmed that he brought up the whole idea for the attack on his master. The suspect also confirmed that he got access to a space key to his boss’ room without the knowledge of the boss.
The late Professor Emmanuel Yaw Benneh was reported dead on September 12, 2020 at his residence at Adjiringanor. He was found dead lying in a pool of blood with his hands tied.
From the investigations of the police, James Womba was suspected and subsequently confirmed his inclusion in the murder.
