Thomas Partey ruled out of Ghana call-up due to injury


Arsenal new signing, Thomas Teye Partey, has been ruled out of Ghana’s double header AFCON qualifier clash against Sudan. The unfortunate injury happened in the first half of Arsenal’s 3-0 loss to Aston Villa.

Thomas Partey is faced with a thigh injury and will stay in England despite international break. He was replaced in midfield by Spaniard Dani Ceballos after the second half resumed.

Mikel Arteta, after the game, said he was unsure how long the 27-year-old midfield gem would be sidelined for. “Partey will undergo a scan very soon and see what he felt straight away. Let us wait and see what the magnitude of the thigh injury is,” Arteta stated.

Mikel Arteta additionally stated that the doctors will decide whether the young Ghanaian will play for Ghana. “I don’t really know. The team doctor will have a look at him and probably scan him. Then we will decide what to do with him,” said Arteta.

Consequently, Partey will miss Ghana’s two African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan. The two games will take place on Thursday, November 12, and Tuesday, November 17, this year.

Arsenal will face Leeds United at Elland Road after the resumption of the league on November 22. It has been revealed that the severity of Partey’s injury is positive and will not be sidelined for too long.
