Two fake policemen arrested for extorting money from motorists at Kasoa

The Kasoa Police Service with the aid of some commercial motorbike riders last Wednesday have apprehended two fake policemen who pose to be policemen to extort money from defaulters. They fake policemen most often block the Kasoa Akweley Road and operate within that area.

The arrested fake policemen are by name Bright David Mensah and Asabre Bismark. Also, Bright David Mensah is an interdicted police officer with the Formed Police Unit, with an intention of illegally making money made a road block at the Adom Estate and extort amounts ranging from Gh¢ 20 and above without showing any mercy to offenders. Although the wo were not in uniform, they had proofs that showed that they were in the Police Service.

Suspicions began to run through the minds of some commercial motor riders and they immediately prompted the Police Service in Kasoa. Thus, the two fake policemen were arrested immediately.

According to the Kasoa Divisional Police Command, after the arrest was made, here are items found. A pair of handcuffs, pepper spray, a shocker, ZTE mobile phone, Infinix x5 and Samsung mobile phone. An amount of Gh¢ 75 and a Ghana Police Card bearing the name Bismark Asabre.

The suspects fake policemen are in the custody of the police as investigations take place. They will be charged with crimes which include: extortion, conspiracy to commit crime, and falsely pretending to be public officers.

Consequently, all these crimes are contrary to the 1960 Acts 29.
